The Curse Of Learning
The Curse Of Learning
Learning is one of the biggest conscious ability in existence.
But, Sometimes it comes with a price, specially in this digital age.
Learning is a fundamental and lifelong process that offers numerous advantages and benefits.
You gain knowledge regarding different topics, it helps you learn new skill and on the long run you develop as a person,
But, why is it a curse!?
In this digital age, we can all agree on one thing!
We as human, do not lack information
We are kind of overloaded by Information, and that gives us comfort or rather illusion of comfort. You being better on something completely depends on action and that is where today's learning has become a curse.
You say f*ck it, Let's watch a YouTube video about skydiving or cooking or even basic mathematic equations. The hard work of action is missing out in our day to day habits.
I've been there!
It's a trap of comfort that led us to that path,
Epictetus, a Stoic philosopher, introduced the concept of the "dichotomy of control," which emphasizes distinguishing between what is within your control and what is not. Apply this concept to your learning by recognizing that you can control your effort, attitude, and approach, but external factors like the opinions of others or unexpected events may be beyond your control.
The world around you now is so small, it is metaphorically or even literally in the palm of your hand. But, look at yourself or imagine yourself in that situation. Can you do the action, if you are put in that situation, that you are watching in that digital screen.
Probably not!
I once got addicted to cooking videos on YouTube but I knew nothing and I wasn't even confident enough, when I first started actual cooking but day after day, Month after Month after a lot of Actions. Now, I can cook decent enough dishes.
Action is a commitment to continuous self-improvement and the pursuit of virtue. Apply this to your learning by setting realistic goals, consistently seeking new knowledge, and cultivating a growth mindset. Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth rather than as obstacles.
That is where you can outrun the Curse!
Cultivate a mindset that enables you to navigate the ups and downs of your educational journey with composure.
So, Are you Learning!? Or Are you just trapped inside a curse that's giving you the illusion of learning!?
